I am back from my little break. I know it has been a while since I last posted, but I had several other projects (and one Masters degree) that required my special attention. Now, back to our regularly scheduled message…Oh yes Arizona, it is that time of year again, in those parts of our great state where we have trees, their leaves are beginning to turn magnificent shades of orange, brown and yellow. Especially up north in the White Mountains and San Francisco Peaks you can feel the change of the seasons.

This is a great time to get out and experience the wonderful sights, smells and experiences of the great state of Arizona. Regardless of whether you are spending time up at the ski run at Snowbowl before the first snow comes in, or if you are over enjoying the majesty of the Chiricahuas, or spending time down in Wilcox at one of the local farms picking fresh produce…now is the time to get out and enjoy the state. No matter your choice, you can easily find a cabin or bed and breakfast to provide you with shelter and hospitality for the evening.

If you want to get in that last round of boating up at Apache Lake, or some fishing over at Greer, there are plenty of nice family and pet friendly cabins in those areas. My brother-in-law and several of his friends love to go over to Hannegans Meadow this time of year to spend some time stalking the Elk and seeing what they look like this year. These guys are serious hunters and love nothing more than to spend some quality time out there in the woods. Take a little time on line, find the right Arizona cabin for you and then get going. In the Arizona Mountains this time of year doesn’t last long. Soon snow and old man winter will be upon us…and then we will have to shift our focus to winter sports.

AZ Cabins

If you have been following this blog for any length of time, you know that I typically profile Arizona cabins that one can go and spend a weekend at. This week’s installment varies a little from the standard format. While I was conducting my research for the article, I came a across a site that offers something that I have only read about…modular log cabins. There is a little company in Payson Arizona that produces modular log cabins. Now I have written about plenty of Payson Arizona cabins, but never one that was on wheels. It appears that you can order your custom made Payson cabin from Classic Log Cabins, and they simply deliver it to you when it is ready. I like it. If you are in the market for an AZ cabin, you should check them out.

Keeping with my decision to deviate from my normal writing this evening, I have decided to also profile the Majestic Mountain Inn in Payson Arizona. While this is not a cabin in Payson AZ, it still has that rustic look and feel of cabin living. The inn offers a full range of amenities to its guests, and still allows the residents to enjoy that cabin fell while staying in the community of Payson AZ. One of the nice features that I particularly liked was the gas fireplaces and Jacuzzis that you can get in some of the rooms. Additionally, the Inn sits within walking distance of one of Payson’s newest restaurants. Take the time to stop by and visit the folks at the Inn. While it is not a Payson AZ cabin, I am sure you won’t even be able to tell once you are checked in.

Flagstaff Cabins

Today we are going to take the time to review a couple of our favorite locations. Our two cabin locations that we are going to review are AZ cabins that are located in the communities of Payson AZ and Eager AZ. Both of these communities are very similar in climate and scenery and there are a wide variety of Payson cabins and Eager cabins to choose from on your next family vacation.

The Eager AZ cabin facility that we will be looking at is Coronado Trail Cabins. Coronado Trail Cabins boast cabins that are clean, smoke-free, and they come with fully equipped kitchens. If you have a family the size of mine (there are ten of us) you quickly learn to appreciate amenities such as an in cabin kitchen. Additionally, these AZ cabins have ample access to the abundant wildlife that is native to the Arizona Mountains. The other nice thing about these AZ cabins is that they are reasonably priced with cabins starting at $80 per night. With the top price for their cabins ending up right around $160 per night, you can spend the evening in the beautiful Eager AZ Mountains for what it would cost you to stay in a modest hotel room in the Phoenix area.

The other AZ cabin rental outfit I wanted to discuss is a cabin and lodge facility located in Payson AZ. The Grey Hackle Lodge is another nice AZ cabin that is available for rental by families on vacation in Arizona. The Grey Hackle Lodge is ideally located an hour from the Phoenix Metropolitan area, which allows for families to spend a day shopping in Scottsdale or Tempe, and then head back to the mountains to spend the evening. The Grey Hackle Lodge/Cabins are located in the Christopher Creek area of Payson, near the Mogollon Rim. Again, these cabins can be had for about the cost of an average hotel in the Phoenix or Scottsdale area, but the environment and ambiance will be worth the trip.

AZ Cabins

The Timberwolf Pines cabins is one of the many Payson Cabins that are available in Arizona. The Timberwolf Pines establishment is one of those AZ cabins that are located near the scenic and popular town of Greer AZ, and provide a full range of vacation amenities. Timberwolf Pines cabins bill themselves as being a newer establishment in the Christopher Creek / Payson area, so even if you have been in an AZ cabin in this area before, it may be well worth your time to visit the Payson area again for a quiet weekend getaway. Their website provides some excellent pictures of the interior and exterior of the cabin. Very nice!

Based on the information provided on the site, they have a full range of outdoor activities that are available to their guests, as do most AZ cabins. Additionally, they state there is a full range of wildlife that is in close proximity to the cabins and lodges. The cabin rates they have listed on the site begin at $135 a night.

AZ Cabins

The more time I spend looking for AZ cabin information and sites, the more I am astounded at the sheer volume of information that is available. I have already provided some excellent information on AZ cabins in the Payson area such as the cabins available at the Grey hackle Lodge. Rest assured, there is plenty more information where that came from. The subject of this week’s article is the AZ cabins that are available over at the site of “theCabinRental”. The site is put together well, and they lay out all of the advantages that their AZ cabin provides to those looking for a weekend getaway or family vacation. Additionally, if your family is looking for activities to participate in during your weekend getaway you can look into golf, fishing, and other entertainment that is provide at the casinos that are located nearby. As a matter of fact, I have been told that they offer some of the best Arizona golf packages you will find. What more could you ask for, the beauty and serenity of log cabin living, and the benefit of golf right around the corner.




The cabins are actually located in the Beaver Valley (which is a part of the Tonto National Forest). Beautiful area, with plenty of wildlife to enjoy. The cabins are located approximately 6 minutes away from Payson, which makes grocery shopping a snap. The site provides information on two cabins – The Buckskin Cabin, and the Verde Cabin. Both are reasonably priced and decent sized. Both have three bedrooms and are listed as being kid and pet friendly.
